Laser Plates History:
In 1974 Brad Brandner's two twin daughters convinced him that the skates being produced by the manufacturers of the time were too heavy.
Brad set to work utilizing his experience in engineering and machining to design a lighter more dynamic skate plate.
The original laser roller skate plate was made of mahogany. The model was not very successful. Undaunted, Brad carried on seeking
the right match of design and materials to complete his vision. He talked to a contact he had at DuPont, and obtained some plastic samples.
The nylon produced by DuPont possessed both the strength and weight characteristics Brad needed for his plate.
The world's first nylon skate plate was born, lighter yet retaining the strength required for a high performance roller skate plate.
Over the years Brad invented and patented 25 new roller skating advancements keeping Laser Skates at the forefront
of quad roller skating technology. In the fall of 2006 Sure-Grip International purchased Laser Skate company and will continue to keep the tradition alive.
The experience that Sure-Grip has in the skate manufacturing industry will only enhance this product line and keep the innovations coming.
